Job Description:

Business Development Manager

Location: Manchester

Salary: £65,000 to £90,000 (plus bonus)

Experience: Senior B2B relationship builder with a strong network

If you’re a senior B2B relationship-builder who can open doors and create warm, commercial conversations, this is an interesting opportunity to join a busy Manchester office and work directly with Partners across multiple practice areas.

Our client is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to help grow the firm’s pipeline through high-quality introductions, relationship-led business development and structured follow-up. This is not a high-volume cold sales role. It’s about credibility, trust, and being able to connect the right people. They’re open on background. You do not need to have worked in a law firm, but you do need to be comfortable learning how legal services are positioned and sold, and how to spot opportunities across different teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of B2B opportunities through your network and targeted outreach
  • Creating introductions and setting up meetings for Partners and senior stakeholders
  • Identifying cross-selling opportunities across practice areas and helping teams collaborate on shared clients
  • Supporting Partners with follow-up activity, keeping opportunities moving and ensuring next steps are clear
  • Helping shape and deliver business development activity in the Manchester market (events, networking, relationships)
  • Tracking activity and outcomes so the firm has visibility of what’s working and where to focus

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in senior B2B relationship-led business development, ideally with access to a wide network
  • Comfortable operating with senior stakeholders and influencing at Partner level
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to spot and qualify opportunities
  • Confident communicator who can build trust quickly and represent the firm professionally
  • Organised and consistent with follow-up, with a practical approach to turning conversations into work
  • Interest in professional services and the ability to learn and understand the firm’s service lines

What’s On Offer

  • Strong base salary with bonus potential
  • Private medical cover
  • Death in service
  • Pension
  • Busy, bustling Manchester office with food provided
  • A role with real autonomy and visibility, working closely with senior decision-makers
  • Flexibility around working pattern for the right person

Working Arrangements

Manchester-based role with hybrid working available. Part-time considered.
