To attain a high standard of direct patient care within the role through defined clinical procedures and pathways. Due to the autonomous nature of the role the Retinal Lead Nurse is required to assess, examine and treat individuals and exercise judgement regarding the administration of identified treatment through evidence based practice and support by theoretical input. Medical referral is expected outside these parameters.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The Retinal Lead Nurse is responsible for the planning and preparation of day to day management responsibilities and decision making within their own work area. Will lead clinical audit programmes for own specialist area of responsibility.
Teaching, assessing and clinical supervision of health colleagues is required. Contribute to the education, development of other staff members, qualified and unqualified. Will provide specialist advice to patients, relatives and clinical team members. Work collaboratively and with others to meet the needs of ophthalmic IVT service developments, patients and their families. Provide clinical supervision opportunities for nursing colleagues.
