Role Description
The MOT Tester role at Formula One Autocentres in Chester is a full-time, on-site position within a modern, well-equipped autocentre. The MOT Tester will carry out Class 4 MOT tests in line with DVSA regulations, accurately recording results and ensuring all documentation is completed and updated in the MOT testing system. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing vehicle safety checks, identifying faults, advising on necessary repairs, and working closely with the workshop team to ensure efficient workflow. The role also involves maintaining testing equipment, following health and safety procedures, and delivering clear, professional communication to customers about test outcomes. The MOT Tester is expected to uphold high standards of customer service and contribute to the overall performance and reputation of the Chester centre.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess a valid DVSA MOT tester qualification (Class 4) and up-to-date MOT annual training and assessment.
- Candidates should possess strong automotive mechanical skills, including experience with brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, and general vehicle maintenance.
- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of MOT testing procedures, DVSA regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Candidates should possess attention to detail, accurate record-keeping skills, and the ability to follow established processes and safety standards.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and customer service skills to explain MOT results and repair recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Candidates should possess the ability to work collaboratively with technicians and service staff, while managing workload in a busy workshop environment.
- Candidates should possess a full UK driving licence and a strong commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
- Relevant experience in an autocentre or dealership workshop and additional vehicle service qualifications (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds in Motor Vehicle Maintenance) would be beneficial.
