Sky is lookingfor a talented and dedicated Senior Software Engineer in RDK TriageEngineering team to support the release cycles associated withdeployed software on CPE devices. These devices use ReferenceDesign Kit (RDK), which is deployed on over 100+ million devicesspanning video, broadband and homesecurity.
The Release TriageSoftware Engineer function is critical to the successfuldevelopment and deployment of new features and fixes as thefunction ensures that these changes get deployed to thefield.
Sky’s development environment is advancedand highly integrated. It uses industry-standard tools that arecombined effectively to support a fast-moving, agile developmentcycle. The combination of these tools running on cloudinfrastructure, coupled with effective use of Open-Source code,allows Sky to deliver features and products against aggressivetimelines.
WhatYou’ll Do:
As a key engineer of theteam, you will be responsible for leading on-time, high-qualityreleases across a large number of devices. You will also beresponsible for the complete release quality and triage lifecycle,which includes deployment, triage, mitigation, and tool developmentfor software release operations. The position will require dailycollaboration with the Development, Release, and QA teams. You willassess and ensure the release quality of the RDK software with Keyperformance metrics as well as incidents from the field. Also,identify new tools, processes, etc., necessary to improve thesoftware release triage engineering process. You will manage risksand resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule andquality.
Your daily tasks:
- Investigate customer-impacting field issues, identifyroot cause, and guide development teams toward the rightfix
- Use strong problem-solving and debuggingskills to isolate faults and resolve issues quickly
- Monitor business intelligence and telemetry dashboards tocatch emerging customer issues early and act on them
- Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams andexternal partners, communicating findings clearly
- Contribute to and follow Agile developmentpractices
- Stay current with new tools,technologies, and best practices across development, data analysis,cloud platforms, and monitoring
- Help scoperequirements and contribute ideas to improve triage tooling andworkflows
- Support and mentor teammates,sharing knowledge and best practices as yougrow
WhatYou’ll Bring:
- Experience insoftware engineering, systems debugging, or technical support, witha strong problem-solving mindset
- Experiencewith Linux and at least one programming language (C, C++, Python,or similar)
- Comfort working with networking& video/digital TV concepts (WiFi, broadband, or videotechnologies a plus, but not required)
- Exposure to data analysis or monitoring tools (e.g.,Elastic, Splunk, Datadog, or similar) is a plus
- Understanding of software development practices, versioncontrol, and Agile methodologies
- Strongcommunication skills and the ability to work well withcross-functional and global teams
- A curious,adaptable mindset — comfortable learning new tools and technologieson thejob
