What You’ll be doingAs a Public Health Officer – Children and Families, you will play a key role in improving the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families across Luton. Working as part of the specialist Public Health team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the Council, NHS, voluntary sector and local communities to deliver programmes that improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.
You’ll support the development, delivery and monitoring of public health initiatives, contribute to needs assessments and health strategies, analyse and present data to inform decision-making, and help ensure commissioned services are safe, effective and of high quality. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by embedding a public health approach across local services and partnerships.
What we’re looking forYou’ll have experience of working in partnership with a wide range of organisations and stakeholders, building positive relationships to improve outcomes for children, young people and families. You’ll understand public health approaches to reducing health inequalities and have experience contributing to service reviews, health needs assessments or the development and evaluation of health improvement programmes.
You’ll be an organised and analytical individual, able to interpret and present qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision-making. With excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, you’ll be confident working across teams and with partners to deliver shared priorities.
You’ll have a good understanding of evidence-based public health practice, health improvement services for children and families, and the principles of Family Hubs. A degree in a public health-related subject (or equivalent experience) is essential, along with the ability to travel across the borough and surrounding area as required.
