Interim Community Engagement Lead

n

6 months, Inside IR35, London

n

n

You will develop and deliver effective engagement strategies that strengthen relationships between the Council, residents, community groups, voluntary organisations, and key stakeholders.

n

n

The postholder will ensure that local voices are heard and reflected in service design, policy development, and decision-making, supporting the re-fresh of the Council's Corporate Plan.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

    n

  • Develop and implement community engagement and consultation strategies aligned with the Council's priorities
  • n

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, community representatives, faith groups, voluntary sector organisations, and local partners
  • n

  • Lead engagement activities, including public consultations, workshops, focus groups, community forums, and digital engagement campaigns
  • n

  • Ensure engagement approaches are inclusive and accessible, reaching underrepresented and seldom-heard communities
  • n

  • Analyse feedback and community insight to inform policy development, service improvements, and strategic decision-making
  • n

  • Provide advice and support to departments on best practice in engagement and consultation
  • n

  • Monitor and evaluate engagement activity, producing reports and recommendations for senior leaders and elected members
  • n

  • Support the development of community capacity building initiatives that empower residents to participate in local decision-making
  • n

  • Ensure all engagement activities comply with relevant legislation, equalities duties, and consultation best practice
  • n

Essential Experience

n

    n

  • Experience of leading community engagement, consultation, or stakeholder management activities within local government, public sector, or a related environment
  • n

  • Strong understanding of London's diverse communities and the challenges facing local residents
  • n

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
  • n

  • Experience designing and delivering engagement programmes across a range of channels
  • n

  • Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative feedback and present findings clearly
  • n
