The Housing Support Worker will provide practical and emotional support to individuals living in Community Accommodation with Support (CAS-2), a Ministry of Justice-funded programme that helps prison leavers and people on bail establish stable, independent, crime‑free lives in the community.
Key responsibilities include assessing support needs, developing personalised support and safety plans, assisting with housing and benefit applications, helping service users develop independent living skills, and supporting successful move‑on into long‑term accommodation. The role also involves managing property standards, addressing maintenance issues, monitoring tenancy‑related risks, safeguarding vulnerable adults, and maintaining accurate case records.
The successful candidate will work closely with probation services, housing providers, courts, and other partner agencies to coordinate support and achieve positive outcomes. They will need strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills, experience supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs, and the ability to work independently while managing a varied caseload.
The position requires regular travel across the allocated area, so a full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance are essential. The role involves working flexible shifts on a rotational basis, including some unsociable hours, and is subject to Enhanced DBS and HMPPS checks.
