A rare, board level opportunity has opened up with a highly respected, multi studio UK architecture practice known for its deep sector specialism, alongside a growing portfolio of large scale, design led projects. This is a brand new role, the first of its kind the practice has created, and it comes with genuine influence over how the business runs commercially for years to come.
The Opportunity
This newly created position sits on the practice’s board – you will have real ownership of how the practice manages commercial performance across all of its studios, and a rare chance to build something with no existing playbook to follow.
What You Will Be Doing
- Shape how projects are priced, resourced and tracked commercially across the practice, from the first client conversation through to project completion.
- Build simple, practical tools and reporting that give the business earlier sight of a project’s commercial health.
- Work closely with regional leaders and studio teams, helping them get the best commercial outcomes from their projects while protecting what they love about the job.
- Get involved in shaping major bids and tenders, and build strong relationships across the practice’s network of contractors and consultants.

About You
We know no one ticks every box on a list like this, and we would much rather hear from you than have you rule yourself out. This role is likely to suit you if:
- You have experience in a commercial, delivery or operations focused role, ideally though not necessarily within architecture or a related professional services environment.
- You enjoy building something new and are comfortable working without an existing playbook to follow.
- You have helped a business improve its margins, fee performance or overall commercial results, in whatever way that has looked in your career so far.
- You can build trust and influence with senior, experienced people without needing to pull rank to get things done.
A background as a qualified architect is useful but by no means essential. Candidates from adjacent built environment backgrounds, such as main contracting, or project management, are just as likely to be a great fit.
