Referment is working with a growing B2B technology business to hire a Finance Director to lead its finance function through its next stage of growth.
This is a broad, hands‑on leadership role combining financial control, FP&A, commercial finance and strategic planning.
You’ll work closely with the senior leadership team, taking ownership of the company’s financial planning and reporting while helping shape wider commercial decisions.
A key part of the role will be supporting the business through its next phase of funding and growth, including financial modelling, investor materials, due diligence and longer‑term planning.
You’ll initially manage an existing member of the finance team, with the opportunity to develop the function further as the business scales.
The Role
You’ll Be Responsible For
- Owning budgeting, forecasting and longer‑term financial planning.
- Producing financial models and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Managing cash flow, working capital and treasury.
- Providing financial insight to the leadership team and supporting commercial decision‑making.
- Supporting pricing, margin analysis and significant commercial opportunities.
- Preparing Board and investor reporting.
- Supporting future fundraising activity, including financial modelling, forecasts, data room preparation and due diligence.
- Overseeing month‑end and year‑end processes and ensuring accurate management accounts.
- Maintaining appropriate financial controls, policies and processes.
- Managing audit, tax and statutory reporting requirements.
- Managing relationships with external accountants, auditors and other advisors.
- Developing and mentoring the existing finance team.
- Building out the finance function as the company grows
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a qualified accountant who combines strong technical finance experience with the commercial mindset needed in a growing technology company.
You’ll Ideally Have
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification.
- Significant post‑qualified finance experience.
- Experience working within a startup, scale‑up or other high‑growth business.
- Strong experience across budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.
- A solid technical accounting background covering management accounts, statutory reporting and financial controls.
- Experience managing or developing other finance professionals.
- Strong commercial judgement, including an understanding of pricing, margins and business performance.
- Experience working directly with senior leadership teams.
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.
- The willingness to remain hands‑on while also contributing at a strategic level
Previous experience within a VC‑backed B2B software, fintech or financial technology business would be particularly relevant.
Experience supporting an equity or debt fundraise, including investor due diligence, would also be highly advantageous.
This could suit an existing Finance Director, Head of Finance or Financial Controller who wants broader strategic responsibility and the opportunity to help shape the next stage of a growing business.
