Role Description The General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of McCaffertys Bar. This includes managing staff schedules, leading and motivating the team, and ensuring exceptional guest service throughout each shift. The role involves monitoring bar performance, controlling costs, overseeing stock levels, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance with licensing regulations. The General Manager will coordinate live music and events, support marketing and promotional activities, and handle guest feedback and incident resolution professionally. This position also includes recruiting and training team members, conducting performance reviews, and working with ownership to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bar, pub, or hospitality management, with strong skills in team leadership, staff supervision, and shift coordination.
- Operational skills in inventory management, cash handling, cost control, and adherence to health, safety, and licensing regulations.
- Customer-focused abilities including excellent communication, conflict resolution, and a commitment to delivering a welcoming guest experience.
- Experience planning or overseeing live entertainment and events, including coordination with performers and promotion of special nights.
- Basic business and administrative skills such as reporting, budgeting awareness, and use of POS and scheduling systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior work in Irish pubs or themed hospitality venues is an advantage; knowledge of Irish culture and music is a plus.
- Relevant hospitality or business qualifications, or equivalent experience, are desirable.
