Senior Project Planner

The Opportunity

An established multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to lead planning workstreams across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, energy, environmental, residential, commercial and public-sector projects throughout Ireland.

The successful candidate will provide expert planning advice to clients and multidisciplinary teams, managing planning deliverables from project inception through to submission and completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning workstreams across a variety of complex projects.
• Manage project programmes, budgets, resources and planning deliverables.
• Prepare, coordinate and review planning applications and supporting documentation.
• Review planning reports, drawings, figures and technical submissions.
• Undertake quality assurance reviews to ensure high-quality planning outputs.
• Liaise with planning authorities, An Bord Pleanála, statutory consultees and other stakeholders.
• Represent projects at pre-planning consultations, progress meetings, public consultations and stakeholder engagement events.
• Support oral hearings, planning appeals and other statutory processes.
• Prepare and review planning sections of EIARs, PECRs and related environmental documentation.
• Coordinate planning inputs across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Contribute to tenders, fee proposals and business development activities.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to Graduate Planners and Planners.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Level 8 Honours Degree in Planning or a closely related discipline.
• Approximately 5–7 years' professional planning experience.
• Corporate Membership of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) or Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), or active progression towards Chartered Planner status.
• Strong knowledge of Irish planning legislation, policy and development management processes.
• Experience managing planning projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent report-writing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• A professional and commercially aware approach to client and project management.

Desirable Experience

Experience across infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy or environmental projects would be advantageous, together with knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment processes and the preparation of EIAR-related documentation.
