Senior Environmental Engineer – Civil & Environmental Engineering

The Opportunity

An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Engineer to join its Circular Economy and Environment team. The role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of sustainable infrastructure, waste management and environmental engineering projects, with a clear pathway towards Principal Engineer.

The successful candidate will oversee the planning and management of design activities, working closely with Project Engineers, Engineering Technicians and wider multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage engineering design activities and associated CAD documentation.
• Support the delivery of infrastructure projects within the solid waste, bio-waste and sludge management sectors.
• Contribute to the design and development of sustainable infrastructure and environmental engineering projects.
• Coordinate project activities, technical deliverables and design inputs.
• Attend site meetings with clients, contractors and other professional stakeholders.
• Liaise with clients, external stakeholders and sub-contractors throughout project delivery.
• Review technical documentation and ensure projects are delivered to agreed standards.
• Support project management, programming and coordination activities.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental requirements.
• Provide technical input and support to project teams.
• Contribute to the continued development of technical and project management processes.

Desirable Experience

Experience in the design and delivery of anaerobic digestion facilities, solid waste management facilities, waste/resource infrastructure or public realm projects would be advantageous.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years' relevant post-graduate professional experience.
• Proven experience in engineering project management and technical delivery.
• Experience working on environmental, infrastructure or waste-related projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent organisational and analytical abilities.
• The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and technical development.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
