We have an opportunityfor a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Priory HospitalCheadle. Working on our EDU ward, this is an excellent role for aPsychiatrist.
Set within picturesque landscapedgardens in Stockport, Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a rangeof comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young peopleand adults. The focus of our service is to help people to livetheir best life in a safe and supportiveenvironment.
Priory Hospital Cheadle Royalis accessible by public transport, with local bus routes alongWilmslow Road and Cheadle Hulme and East Didsbury railway stationsapproximately 1–2 miles from theservice.
What you’ll bedoing
The primary purpose of thisrole is to deliver outstanding clinical care to patients referredto the hospital, ensuring they receive compassionate,evidence-based treatment tailored to their individual needs.Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will help provideholistic, person-centred care that supports recovery, wellbeing,and positive long-term outcomes.
You will take clinical responsibility for adefined patient caseload, leading key aspects of care delivery,including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk assessments andreviews, strategic care planning, and the development of a safe,therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment.
As part of your responsibilities, you willalso fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician for patients detainedunder the Mental Health Act 1983, providing clinical leadership andensuring the highest standards of care, governance, and legalcompliance.

What you’ll bringto therole
Essential:
Applicantsmust hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (orequivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register, alongwith Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.Candidates should also have evidence of ongoing continuousprofessional development.
- Acollaborative and proactive team player with a strong commitment tomultidisciplinary working, contributing effectively to assessment,formulation, treatment planning, and patientmanagement.
- Demonstrable experienceworking within inpatient mental health services, providing care andtreatment for individuals with complex and severe mental healthneeds.
- Proven ability to provideclinical leadership within multidisciplinary teams, supportinghigh-quality, recovery-focused, and patient-centredcare.
- Excellent communication,decision-making, and risk management skills, with the ability towork effectively in a dynamic clinical
