AMADA Laser Operator / Setter

We are recruiting an experienced Laser Operator / Setter to join a well-established sheet metal manufacturing company in Dudley.
The company has recently invested in a new AMADA laser cutting machine and is looking for an experienced operator to join the team and work across a split day and afternoon shift.
This is a temporary-to-permanent position, with a genuine opportunity to secure a permanent role with the company.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for operating and setting the laser cutting machine within a busy sheet metal manufacturing environment.
Duties will include:
- Setting and operating the AMADA laser
- Loading and unloading sheet material
- Selecting and running programmes
- Making machine adjustments where required
- Monitoring the cutting process
- Checking finished components for quality and accuracy
- Working from engineering drawings and job specifications
- Working with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium
- Identifying and reporting any machine or cutting issues
- Carrying out basic operator maintenance
- Keeping the machine and surrounding work area clean and organised
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with previous experience as a:
- Laser Operator
- Laser Setter / Operator
- CNC Laser Operator
- AMADA Laser Operator
- Sheet Metal Machine Operator
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous CNC laser cutting experience
- Experience setting and operating laser cutting machinery
- AMADA experience would be a strong advantage
- Experience within a sheet metal or fabrication environment
- Ability to work from engineering drawings
- Good understanding of sheet materials and thicknesses
- Experience carrying out quality checks on finished components
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
Experience on other laser cutting machines such as Bystronic or Trumpf will also be considered.
Shift Pattern
This position will work across a split day and afternoon shift pattern.
Candidates must therefore be flexible and comfortable working both days and afternoons.
