Vehicle Assembly Technician
£18 – £21 per hour | East Kilbride | 40 hours | Monday-Friday | Permanent
We are recruiting experienced Vehicle Assembly Technicians / Mechanical Technicians for a specialist vehicle manufacturer based in East Kilbride.
This is a hands-on, varied position working within low-volume vehicle manufacturing rather than a repetitive production-line environment.
You’ll work across different stages of the vehicle build, including mechanical assembly, systems integration, electrical fitment, inspection, testing, diagnostics and fault rectification.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly and fitting of vehicle components and systems
- Build vehicle modules and sub-assemblies
- Fit panels, brackets, fasteners, seals, hoses and pipework
- Install low-voltage wiring, connectors and sensors
- Work from engineering drawings, build instructions and specifications
- Use hand tools, power tools and calibrated torque tools
- Carry out quality inspections and build checks
- Test mechanical, electrical and fluid systems
- Diagnose and rectify build faults
- Support prototype, first-off and development builds
- Complete build, inspection and quality documentation
- Work closely with engineering and production teams
Experience

Experience could come from automotive, commercial vehicles, HGV, plant, agricultural equipment, defence, specialist vehicles or complex manufacturing.
You’ll need:
- Strong hands-on mechanical skills
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Ability to work from technical instructions or drawings
- Good mechanical fault-finding ability
- High attention to detail
- Strong approach to quality and safety
- Full UK driving licenceExperience with vehicle electrical systems, wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, braking, steering, driveline or diagnostics would be advantageous.
£18 – £21 per hour
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
