Legal Director, Lloyds Insurer

The Client:

An excellent opportunity has arisen with a leading Lloyd’s syndicate for an insurance lawyer with 8+ years’ PQE* and a broad insurance background. The role will involve leading legal support for the syndicate business while collaborating with a wider legal team across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following:

• Lead lawyer for the London business with oversight of compliance and cosec advising the senior management team on a range of legal matters
• Line management responsibility
• Assisting with insurance law, privacy, employment and other matters as they arise
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of insurance and non insurance specific contracts, including partnership agreements, supplier agreements, vendor contracts, and customer terms and conditions.
• Working in multidisciplinary teams across various departments, including product development, marketing, and human resources, ensuring that all business activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will be an 8+ PQE* Insurance lawyer, preferably with experience in a law firm, or insurance firm.
• Experience working inhouse in the insurance sector is a prerequisite
• Lloyd’s market knowledge would be a plus for this role
• Excellent contract negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proactive, detail oriented, and able to thrive in a fast paced, innovative environment. Strong problem solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

*Candidates outside this PQE range with the prerequisite experience would be considered for this role.
