Skilled Engineer
Excel Recruitment are seeking a Skilled Engineer on behalf of their client based in Ballymena.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a busy manufacturing environment, carrying out maintenance, repairs and improvements to plant, machinery and site services.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, with an electrical lead.
- Complete repairs, installations, modifications, upgrades and refurbishment of plant and equipment.
- Support continuous improvement to reduce downtime and improve efficiency, productivity and product quality.
- Use the CMMS effectively and maintain engineering drawings where required.
- Obtain and sign out Permits to Work and follow isolation and lock-off procedures.
- Complete statutory checks and support audit requirements.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams.
- Ensure all work meets required engineering, quality, safety, hygiene and food safety standards.
- Support environmental and sustainability requirements and undertake relevant training.
Requirements
- Engineering City & Guilds/ONC, NVQ Level 3, or an engineering apprenticeship with relevant practical experience.
- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations – Electrical.
- At least 2 years’ experience as a skilled engineering craftsperson or technician.
- Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Permit to Work and Isolation & Lock Off procedures.
Hours
Weekly rotating shifts:
- 04:00 – 12:30
- 12:00 – 20:30
Overtime paid at x1.5 or x2 on a Sunday.
