Vulnerability Management Analyst

VANRATH are recruiting for an experienced Vulnerability Management Analyst to join a leading organisation on an initial contract basis.
This is a hands-on vulnerability management role, focused on identifying, assessing and driving the remediation of vulnerabilities across a complex technology estate.
You’ll work closely with Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Applications and other technical teams to prioritise vulnerabilities, manage remediation activity and ensure high-risk and overdue issues are addressed within agreed timescales.
The Role
You will take ownership of the vulnerability lifecycle from identification through to remediation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and monitoring vulnerability findings across the technology estate
- Using enterprise vulnerability management tools to identify and assess vulnerabilities
- Analysing vulnerability findings and supporting risk-based prioritisation
- Working directly with infrastructure, application and other technical resolver teams
- Driving remediation activity and tracking progress against agreed SLAs
- Following up on outstanding and overdue vulnerabilities
- Escalating high-risk or overdue vulnerabilities where required
- Producing clear vulnerability and remediation reporting
- Supporting technical teams in understanding vulnerabilities and remediation requirements
- Identifying recurring issues and opportunities to improve the vulnerability management process
- Working collaboratively across Security, Infrastructure and Service Delivery
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with practical vulnerability management experience who is comfortable working directly with technical teams to get vulnerabilities remediated.
Experience in several of the following would be beneficial:
- Enterprise vulnerability management
- Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management or similar
- Vulnerability assessment and prioritisation
- CVE / CVSS and vulnerability risk
- Vulnerability remediation and tracking
- Managing vulnerability backlogs and remediation SLAs
- Working with infrastructure and application resolver groups
- Vulnerability and remediation reporting
- Windows, Linux, network, cloud and/or application environments
- ServiceNow or similar ITSM/workflow platforms
You don’t need experience with every technology or platform listed. Strong practical vulnerability management experience and the ability to work across different environments is more important.
The Person
This role would suit a Vulnerability Management Analyst, Senior Vulnerability Analyst or Cyber Security Analyst with a strong focus on vulnerability management and remediation.
You’ll be comfortable getting into the detail of vulnerability findings, communicating risk clearly and working with technical teams to get issues resolved.
You’ll also be:
- Organised and comfortable managing a vulnerability backlog
- Confident engaging with technical stakeholders
- Persistent in following remediation through to completion
- Comfortable challenging teams where remediation isn’t progressing
- Able to prioritise and escalate high-risk vulnerabilities
- Strong in reporting and communicating vulnerability status
This is not primarily a GRC, governance or strategic cyber security position. We’re looking for someone who enjoys the operational side of vulnerability management and can help turn vulnerability findings into actual remediation.
