Whatyou’ll be doing:
In this role,you will be embedded within the engineering function of theDreadnought Alliance team working on the Dreadnought programme, aspart of the Digital Alliance Electrical Power Team. You will assistthe Power and distribution manager and will undertake buildsurveillance activities on the platform as agreed with the JointBuild Assurance working group, Principle Naval Overseer and ESO(Engineering System Owner), ensuring that Dreadnought is designedin accordance with the End User Requirements as laid down by theDefence Nuclear Organisation
Core duties:
- Assist the Power and Distribution Manager toensure that all systems under their ownership are fully compliantwith all Nuclear Safety Functional Requirements (NSFRs)
- Ensure compliance with SIL (Safety Integrity Level)classifications for allocated PBSs (Product Breakdown Structure).Where a non-compliance exists, ensure that an ALARP (As Low AsReasonability Practicable) statement is produced and approved bythe Approving Authority and INA (Independent NuclearAssurance).
- Engage with stakeholders and asrequired host/attend UK/US technical forums conducting a transferof information across the NSRP (Nuclear Steam Raising Plant) andensuring that the TA (Technical Authority) merge joint LfE(Learning from Experience) into the EPS (Electrical Power System)design
- Responsible for ensuring thatDreadnought is designed in accordance with the End UserRequirements as laid down by the Defence NuclearOrganisation
- Undertake build surveillanceactivities on the platform as agreed with the Joint Build Assuranceworking group, Principle Naval Overseer and ESO (Engineering SystemOwner)
- Provide technical reviews and technicalauthor compliance statements on all systems under the electricalpower teams ownership.
- This is a varied rolein which the incumbent will have the ability to travel to othersupplier sites.
- There are organised upskillingopportunities which are provided every year to the team
Essential Skills:
- Must hold a BEng Degree inElectrical/Electronic Engineering
- Knowledgeand demonstrated experience of IT systems
- Understanding of LV (Low Voltage <1000V) marine powersystems
- CEng/IEng status or workingtowards
- Fully conversant with electricalconversion equipment

You will have the opportunity toengage with various stakeholders from industry and government,ensuring that clear communication is demonstrated at all times. Youwill also have the opportunity to visit supplier sites to manageBuild Assurance through the monitoring of equipment to ensurequality and timescales are being adhered to. Further developmentopportunities are available through organised annual upskillingtraining.
