Job Title: Transport Shift Manager

Due to continued growth, our client, a leading FMCG food manufacturing business, is looking to appoint an experienced Transport Shift Manager. This is a key operational leadership role responsible for managing a team of drivers and transport coordinators to ensure the safe, compliant and efficient delivery and collection of goods to and from customers.
The working pattern will initially be flexible covering days, nights and weekends, offering variety and the opportunity to make a real impact across the transport operation.

The Role
Lead and manage a team of drivers and transport coordinators across your shift, setting clear goals, targets and performance expectations
Ensure all drivers receive a daily debrief and that the Transport Management Team is updated on shift performance
Drive optimal labour utilisation through effective use of scheduling systems and labour flexibility
Ensure full compliance with health and safety, transport legislation, environmental and company standards across all shift activity
Recruit, train and develop drivers and coordinators who reflect the company’s values and have the skills to perform effectively
Execute continuous improvement action plans including productivity improvements and personal development initiatives
Address any service issues promptly and escalate where appropriate to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained at all times
The Person
2 to 5 years experience managing teams within a transport, logistics, distribution or operational environment
Experience working within a manufacturing, FMCG or distribution environment
Strong knowledge of transport compliance and health and safety requirements
Confident, open and honest leadership style with the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
Strong customer focus with the drive to go the extra mile to deliver excellent service
Analytical thinker capable of making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated, resilient and passionate about leading teams and delivering results
CPC qualification or knowledge of Operator Licence requirements desirable
Food sector experience an advantage
