JobDescription:
Working closely withthe bid team, the Manufacturing Engineer will ensure thatrequirements are understood and flowed down through the operationsand supply chain, and agree achievable timescales for provision ofestimates. Take on a dynamic role where you’ll create high‑impact,cost‑effective estimates that shape winning proposals, collaborateclosely with operations and supply chain teams, support customerand supplier fact‑finding, and influence key bid decisions. You’ll help drivecontinuous improvement by analysing build and supportactivity durations, while tracking material costs and build timesto reveal true production costs as designs evolve, playing a vitalpart in turning innovative ideas into deliverablesolutions.
Coreduties:
- Coordinatinginputs from operations and supply chain, producing high quality,achievable and cost-effective estimates for the provision ofrequired services and products in support of the customerproposal
- Supporting fact finds by ourcustomers for our estimates and also to support fact finds of oursuppliers cost base
- Supporting the variousphases of the bid review and approval process, and be able toarticulate the content and basis of our estimates in a professionalmanner
- Reviewing build times & supportactivity durations, estimating future targets and working toimprove processes
- Tracking material costs andbuild times during the development phase as the design matures tounderstand the true production cost
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to create detailedManufacturing Build Instructions, standard operating procedures(SOPs), and tooling/fixturing designs
- Understanding the transition of designs from developmentto full-scale manufacturing, ensuring Design for Manufacture(DFM)
- Proven experience using systemslike SAP, Oracle, or Epicor to manage complex Bills of Materials(BOMs)
- Qualification in a relevant engineeringdiscipline or time served in a similar role and/or CIPSQualification (advantageous)
The Manufacturing EngineeringTeam:
As part of theManufacturing Engineering team, you will play a pivotal role insupporting the manufacture of current and future products acrossour entire product range and the full programme lifecycle. Workingclosely with stakeholders across Manufacturing and Engineering youwill use your knowledge and experiences to support ourmanufacturing systems and processes during initial bid, new productintroduction, production and repair to ultimately ensure productquality is met within schedule and budget targets.
