Job summary
Team CDDFT Speech and Language Therapy are pleased to advertise an exciting Specialist Speech and Language Therapy post which includes a number of development opportunities in Voice disorders, Community dysphagia and communication disorders based at Sedgefield Community Hospital. The successful candidate will be supported by senior staff to ensure continuous development of a broad range of specialist dysphagia, communication and voice competencies with a varied caseload in a number of different settings. County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest integrated care providers in England, serving a population of around 600,000 people.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a well-organised therapist who has completed their post-basic dysphagia training and has experience of working with both communication, voice and swallowing impaired community caseloads. The successful candidate will hold a degree in Speech and Language Therapy, be registered with the Health Professionals Council and be committed to continuing professional development as well as holding an accredited post-basic dysphagia qualification or equivalent. The post will offer opportunities to develop further specialist skills in progressive neurological disease caseload, voice and acquired neurology.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients’ homes.
