A family-run specialist automotive business in Kettering is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician to oversee and manage all on-site technical operations. Working out of a specialized workshop that handles high-end, prestige, and unique vehicles, this standalone role offers high autonomy, flexible team-focused dynamics, and an environment where thorough mechanical mastery is prioritized over rigid corporate targets.
What’s Included in the Package?
- Salary Range: £35,000 – £40,000+ basic per annum (DOE) + open performance/bonus potential to be discussed
- Working Schedule: Monday to Friday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) with NO weekend work

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee all standalone technical operations within the workshop as the primary technician on site
- Perform deep-level mechanical repair work, including engine block teardowns, major overhauls, rebuilds, and complex replacements
- Execute comprehensive diagnostic fault-finding across varied, high-end vehicle systems
- Manage repair timelines independently without rigid, corporate micro-management
- Maintain clean, organized workshop bays and enforce safe working standards
What We Need From You
- Technical Mastery: Time-served mechanic capable of going deep into engine work and advanced mechanical overhauls (beyond basic servicing and tire fitting)
- Autonomy: Ability to work unsupervised, make sound technical decisions, and self-manage daily workshop flow
- Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ / IMI in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time-served specialist experience)
- MOT Requirement: None (This facility does not conduct MOT testing)
- Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
