Mechanical Design Engineer

MERITUS are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client within the sovereign defence industry on an initial 6 month contract from their site in Bristol.

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – INSIDE IR35 – GBP50 PER HOUR – BRISTOL – ELIGIBLE FOR SC – 6 MONTHS – 37 HOUR WEEK – SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS – 4 DAYS A WEEK ON SITE

An opportunity to become part of Europe’s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer’s needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake cutting–edge research of novel mechanical technologies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day–to–day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity

• An appreciation of other engineering areas/domains.
