Band 5 Occupational Therapists
Permanent positions, 36hrs across RIE & WGH
We are now recruiting for Band 5 Occupational Therapists (OT’s) to join our team working across the acute sites of Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Western General Hospital.
All positions are permanent and we have a combination of both static and rotational posts. Some of the clinical areas, to name a few are: Oncology, Major Trauma Centre, Dept. Clinical Neuorsciences, Regional Infectious Diseases Unit, MAU and Frailty. This is an exciting opportunity for new graduates who would be available to work from October and anyone looking to enhance their skills and experience in the acute setting.
We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking, enthusiastic, motivated and flexible OT’s to join our team and the successful candidates will be supported by a highly skilled team of Occupational Therapists. Therapy services support staff development through appraisal process, supervision and CPD opportunities.
There will be a commitment to weekend working in the occupational therapy team at both RIE and WGH as part of the 5 over 7 day working pattern.
As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a “regulated role”, your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
