Overview
As Air Conditioning Service Manager you lead the service team in a growing Hertfordshire building services business, shaping service delivery and department strategy. You oversee engineers, drive commercial activities, and champion continuous improvement to grow the air conditioning division. You’ll partner with senior leadership to resolve technical and operational challenges and influence long-term growth. This role offers hands-on leadership with meaningful impact on customers, projects, and profitability.
Pay / Benefits
- Salary 53,000 – 60,000 (DOE)

Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of Air Conditioning Engineers
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for service and reactive maintenance
- Review engineer reports and determine remedial actions
- Coordinate service, maintenance and reactive works scheduling
- Monitor workloads for efficient service delivery and contractual compliance
- Prepare quotations and pricing for servicing, reactive maintenance, remedial works and small-scale installations
- Identify additional revenue opportunities from service visits and reports
- Support planning, costing and delivery of larger air conditioning projects
- Source and manage subcontract labour when needed
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers on technical matters, parts, lead times and pricing
- Ensure PPM schedules are planned and delivered
- Maintain compliance with industry standards, certifications and accreditations
- Support recruitment and development of engineering staff
- Attend client meetings providing technical expertise
- Drive continuous improvement across service delivery and departmental performance
Key requirements
- Strong background in the commercial air conditioning industry
- Experience in a Service Manager, Supervisor, Senior Engineer or similar leadership role
- Excellent technical knowledge of air conditioning systems, maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Experience managing or supervising engineering teams
- Ability to interpret technical reports and produce accurate quotations
- Strong understanding of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) contracts
- Commercial awareness including labour costing, materials, margins and project profitability
- Good understanding of current industry regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
