Principal Mechanical Engineer

Overview

As Principal Mechanical Engineer you will lead mechanical design and analysis across the engineering lifecycle, ensuring quality, safety and reliability. You will work with cross-functional teams to provide technical direction and manage junior engineers, reporting to project leadership on status, risks and dependencies. The role sits within SEA’s mission to deliver advanced naval and undersea solutions that protect what matters, offering flexible work locations and a path to impact at scale. You will shape technical documentation, manufacturing data packs and design standards to BS8888 across diverse sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed mechanical design, analysis and GD&T studies
• Create technical and testing documentation and manufacturing data packs to BS8888
• Provide regular status updates to Project Management and Engineering Leadership
• Identify risks, opportunities and dependencies and communicate them
• Ensure clear communication within the project team and with stakeholders
• Provide technical direction and task management to junior engineers
