Overview

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and construction administration for projects
• Develop concepts into high‑quality detailed designs and coordinate with disciplines
• Design HVAC, controls, plumbing, and fire protection systems
• Perform HVAC calculations and analyses (Carrier HAP)
• Conduct design reviews, field investigations, and ensure code/client standards compliance
• Prepare and edit mechanical specifications
• Travel to construction sites for inspections and reporting
• Participate in business development and proposal writing
• Prepare written reports for technical and non‑technical audiences
• Provide guidance to junior engineers
• Apply LEED/green design principles
• Mentor or supervise younger staff

Key requirements

• University Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 6 years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing for commercial, institutional, and light industrial facilities
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and coordinate with teams
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to travel as needed and obtain security clearance for government work
• Willingness to pursue professional licensure (P.Eng. in Ontario) is preferred
