Transport Planner

Overview

In this role you will support the delivery of high-quality transport planning solutions for development projects in Nottingham. You will work within the Transport Planning team to produce technical reports and assist with project management, client liaison and team growth. You will apply your design and modelling skills to help shape transport outcomes for residential, commercial and industrial developments. The position offers a collaborative, development-focused environment with mentoring and opportunities to contribute to exciting, varied projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce Transport Notes, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Environmental Statement Transport Chapters and Active Travel Audits with corresponding calculations
• Conduct preliminary highway design using AutoCAD and apply design standards
• Utilise industry software (TRL Junctions, LinSig/Junctions, TRICS, TEMPro) for capacity modelling and analysis
• Support delivery and management of projects, including staff resourcing, deliverables, financials, and client/stakeholder liaison
• Contribute to growth of the Nottingham Transport Planning team and collaborate with colleagues across the business

Key requirements

• 3+ years’ experience in private consultancy development planning across multiple sectors (residential, commercial, industrial)
• Experience producing Transport Notes, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Environmental Statement Transport Chapters and Active Travel Audits
• Experience using junction capacity modelling software (TRL Junctions, LinSig/Junctions)
• Proficiency in TRICS, TEMPro and AutoCAD
• Understanding of preliminary highway design and relevant design standards
• Experience supporting project delivery including deliverables, financials, and client liaison
• Excellent organisational, communication, analytical and presentation skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain technical information clearly
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel)
• Proactive, collaborative, able to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
