Principal Surveyor Scotland

Overview

In this role, you lead delivery of surveying projects across Scotland and the UK, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction. You will support performance, workload planning, and business development for the Scotland team, while mentoring junior staff. You collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated surveying solutions and drive quality across deliverables. Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of surveying projects across Scotland and the wider UK
• Support the Scotland Team Lead with performance, workload planning, project delivery and business development
• Support bid management, proposal writing, and client engagement to promote surveying capabilities
• Undertake and supervise land and engineering surveys per project briefs and standards
• Process, review, and quality assure survey deliverables per WSP procedures and quality requirements
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated surveying solutions
• Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members
• Travel UK-wide as required

Key requirements

• Relevant technical qualification in Surveying or related discipline (Degree or HND)
• Membership of a recognised professional body (RICS or CICES) would be advantageous
• Understanding of project management principles, commercial considerations, health, safety & wellbeing, and project delivery
• Proficient in Total Stations, GNSS, and terrestrial laser scanners
• Experience with N4ce, Trimble Business Centre (TBC), Leica Cyclone, and AutoCAD
• Experience in UAV surveys; GVC certificate advantageous
• Experience in Buried Services Surveys beneficial
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong organisational and self-management skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
• Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor junior surveyors and technical staff
• Willingness to travel UK-wide
