Gas Turbine Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will drive gas turbine engine design and development for light helicopters, collaborating with an engineering team to create robust mechanical designs and detailed components. You will influence both rotating and stationary turbine parts, supporting manufacturing and documentation. The position sits in a growing UK-based, British-owned aerospace company delivering innovative aircraft to the global market. Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of Gas Turbine parts and assemblies
• Develop rotating and stationary components
• Develop cast, fabricated and machined parts and assemblies
• Develop schemes for controlling tolerance stacks and critical fits and clearances
• Create high-quality 3D CAD models of engine parts and assemblies
• Collaborate with production to optimise parts for efficient manufacture
• Create high-quality technical drawings and documentation

Key requirements

• BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or HNC/HDC with equivalent experience)
• Proficient in modelling parts & assemblies in 3D CAD (ideally CREO; training provided)
• Proficient in producing detailed manufacturing drawings
• Experience with a PLM system (ideally Windchill; training provided)
• Experience with typical gas turbine materials, processes and practices
• Experience with small gas turbine engines is a major advantage
