Senior Consultant – Human Factors

Overview

In this role you will lead human factors projects across rail infrastructure, rolling stock, and control rooms to improve safety, performance, and accessibility. You will manage multiple projects, mentor junior colleagues, and drive from bids to delivery while collaborating with top clients. You’ll apply HF integration and risk-based analysis to guide multidisciplinary teams and ensure high-quality outcomes. Responsibilities

• HF Integration planning
• Progressive assurance management and evidence handling
• HF issues/risks management and design requirements derivation
• Apply industry standards and best practices
• Scope and deliver HF activities and methodologies (task analysis, workload assessment, interface design, alerts/alarms)

Key requirements

• Relevant undergraduate or master’s degree related to Human Factors/Ergonomics, Psychology, Systems Engineering, or similar
• Chartered member status with CIEHF or equivalent/working towards
• Demonstrable interest and study in ergonomics, HMI, psychology, or related
• At least five years’ experience as a Human Factors adviser in complex, high-reliability environments; minimum two years in rail
• Strong verbal and written communication, consultation, and facilitation skills
