Associate Fire Engineer

Overview

As an Associate Fire Engineer, you will lead performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across a varied portfolio, guiding projects from concept to handover. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compliant designs and champion fire-safety integration. This role combines technical leadership with client-facing responsibilities and mentorship to develop future fire engineering leaders. Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of fire strategies across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, life sciences, and regeneration projects
• Provide technical guidance through concept to handover, including modelling and regulatory compliance
• Oversee fire and smoke modeling (CFD), evacuation modeling, and smoke control strategies
• Act as Technical Lead on major bids and complex multidisciplinary schemes
• Build and maintain client relationships; lead meetings, workshops, and regulatory consultations
• Support growth of the Fire Engineering service and contribute to bid writing and strategic pursuits
• Mentor Fire Engineers and promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing
• Lead internal initiatives and contribute to thought leadership within the Fire Engineering community

Key requirements

• Extensive experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
• Proficient in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
• Strong communication skills for presenting to clients
• Experience in a consultancy environment with multidisciplinary projects
• Proactive, collaborative mindset aligned to company values
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards with IFE or equivalent
