Regional General Ledger Accountant

Overview

In this role, you will lead regional General Ledger operations for Northern Europe, ensuring accurate closings and compliance while partnering with the Global Shared Service Center. You will act as the main liaison for auditors and local teams, driving process quality and risk mitigation. A key focus is modernizing finance through AI tools and digital assets. Travel up to 20% and collaborate across international teams to support regional finance objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage all local GL functions
• Ensure accurate monthly and annual closings with high first-time quality
• Oversee tax returns (VAT, corporate tax) and ensure local and Group compliance
• Serve as main contact for external/internal auditors and drive swift audit resolutions
• Act as central operational liaison between local team and Kärcher Global Shared Service leads
• Oversee outsourced accounting processes and maintain escalation workflows
• Maintain robust controls across treasury, cash pooling, and regional payroll journals
• Identify and mitigate financial risks proactively
• Evaluate workflows to improve productivity and quality
• Lead implementation of AI tools and digital assets to modernize the team

Key requirements

• BSc in Accounting, Finance (MBA or CPA a plus)
• Minimum 5 years in accounting/finance
• Experience leading a team is desirable
• Professional English; Nordic language desirable
• Strong knowledge of local accounting principles, laws, and regulations in the region
• Hands-on experience with SAP; Google Workspace (Advanced Sheets)
• Knowledge of FIS, TIS, SAC desirable
• Ability to analyze large datasets with structured, process-driven methods
• Excellent relationship skills and discretion with global teams
