Commissioning Director (M/W) – Axima Nuclear

Overview

As Commissioning Director you will lead the commissioning strategy and execution for the Hinkley Point C project, ensuring a smooth transition from construction to operations. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with engineering, construction, quality and client stakeholders to achieve readiness. Your focus is on systems readiness, testing, handover, and regulatory compliance in a highly regulated nuclear environment. This role offers impact across project interfaces and a chance to shape operational readiness for a major nuclear facility.

Responsibilities

• Define and deploy the commissioning strategy and execution plan
• Lead commissioning teams through preparation, testing and handover
• Coordinate activities with engineering, construction, quality and client stakeholders
• Ensure readiness of systems, documentation and resources for commissioning
• Manage schedules, priorities and interfaces across multiple workstreams
• Supervise system and integrated testing activities
• Ensure compliance with nuclear, regulatory and contractual requirements
• Drive resolution of technical issues, punch-lists and non-conformities
• Support client handover and operational readiness activities

Key requirements

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification
• Minimum 15 years of commissioning management on large industrial projects
• Extensive experience in nuclear, power generation or highly regulated industries
• Strong knowledge of system testing, operational readiness and handover processes
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary commissioning teams
• Excellent interface management between engineering, construction and operations
• Strong communication, leadership and negotiation skills
• Fluent English
• Experience on EPC or major infrastructure projects (desirable)
