Security Manager and Deputy CSO

Overview

In this role you lead fleet security operations and work closely with Operations, external security providers and the QHSSE team to ensure ISPS compliance and effective risk management. You will monitor vessel movements, advise on security posture, coordinate security plans and CSR/SSP updates, and support emergency response and incident handling. You shape secure, compliant, and resilient ship operations while interfacing with leadership and crews to drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure fleet compliance with ISPS code requirements
• Monitor security risk across vessel movements and escalate as needed
• Coordinate with external security provider to protect high-risk vessels
• Track vessels in transit to ensure adherence to security procedures
• Assist in emergency drills and situations as directed
• Manage CSR and SSP updates and related flag-state declarations
• Advise management and crews on vessel security matters and implement security systems
• Develop and maintain risk assessments and security procedures improvements
• Ensure security provider contracts meet service levels
• Deliver on plans and tactical security initiatives with consistency

Key requirements

• Minimum 5 years of ship security experience with strong ISPS knowledge
• CSO experience or naval/seafaring background is advantageous
• Ability to assess security risks and design cost-efficient mitigating strategies
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to align security with business goals
• Excellent written and spoken English for policy creation and reporting
• Ability to prioritize conflicting demands under tight timelines
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strategic thinking
• Flexible with working hours to respond to incidents outside normal hours
