Overview
As Manager of the Applied Methods Data Science team in the UK, you lead data scientists who partner with the Autonomy org to turn driving analytics into evals and insights that accelerate customer commitments. You’ll expand the team’s impact, speed delivery, and scale via hiring and tooling, helping Wayve stay at the forefront of end-to-end AI for autonomous mobility. You collaborate with cross-functional partners to align priorities and deliver robust, data-driven results. This role combines leadership with hands-on data science influence in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities
- Set and align 3/6/12 month roadmaps with stakeholders across Autonomy
- Review technical proposals and designs with leads to ensure statistical rigor and eval fidelity
- Monitor delivery cadence, surface schedule slippage, and balance trade-offs with customers
- Grow the team via hiring and tooling to scale beyond headcount
- Guide engineers’ career growth and build progression pathways
- Build cross-functional relationships to stay close to customers and anticipate support needs
Key requirements
- 3+ years managing a team of 5+ ICs
- Track record of growing and maintaining high-performing teams
- Strong data science foundation with experience in causal inference (experimental or observational)
- Proven ability to build relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and translate needs into team priorities
- Experience setting technical direction and reviewing designs/proposals of senior engineers
- Ability to plan roadmaps and manage delivery with demanding customers
- Comfortable working asynchronously across time zones with cross-functional partners
- Deep curiosity about building new systems and contributing to AV2.0
