Senior Buyer – Residential Developments – Northampton Area

Overview

In this role you will support luxury residential developments by coordinating procurement for build programmes. You will join the Commercial/Procurement team and collaborate with estimators and suppliers to ensure timely material supply and budget control. You drive sourcing decisions for brickwork, carpentry, sanitary materials, and plant hire, while resolving supplier issues. This is a senior, office-based position reporting to the Commercial Manager/Director, offering a pathway to shape procurement for high-end builds and contribute to project success.

Responsibilities

• Procure materials (brickwork, carpentry, sanitary) to meet build programmes
• Hire plant and equipment (cabins, forklifts, fencing, cranes)
• Compile monthly budgeting reports for materials
• Resolve supplier disputes
• Support estimating with pre-tender quotations and material specification issue resolution

Key requirements

• At least 5 years of procurement experience with a residential property developer
• Experience procuring materials for new build developments
• Sound knowledge of construction techniques
• Understanding of building, environmental and disability standards
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
• Proven UK employment history with residential construction experience with a recognised developer
