Lead Software Engineer – FIXED INCOME UK

Overview

In this role you will lead and contribute to designing and delivering secure, scalable software within JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial & Investment Bank post-trade technology group. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive architectural decisions, enhance production code, and improve operational stability using automation and new technologies. You leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate engineering while maintaining quality and security. You help shape engineering culture and practices, including diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develops secure, high-quality production code and reviews others’ code
• Identifies opportunities to automate recurring remediation and improve stability
• Leads stakeholder evaluation sessions on architecture, credentials, and applicability within existing systems
• Drives communities of practice to promote adoption of new technologies
• Uses AI-assisted tools to accelerate engineering with validation via tests, reviews, and scans
• Applies responsible AI practices to protect sensitive data and ensure verifiable outputs
• Contributes to an inclusive team culture and continuous improvement in engineering practices

Key requirements

• Formal training or certification in engineering concepts
• 10+ years of applied experience
• Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced in one or more programming languages
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, resiliency, and security
• Proficient in full stack development (Java 21, React or similar frameworks) with cloud deployment and CD/CD strategies
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and strong verification mindset
