Senior Cost Consultant – Cities & Places

Overview

In this role you will lead end-to-end cost management for complex private and public sector projects within the Cities and Places sector. You will work closely with clients and other consultants to shape feasibility, business cases, procurement, and post-contract cost reporting, driving value and responsible cost delivery. You’ll influence procurement, cost planning, and life-cycle costing to support project objectives and client outcomes. Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, business cases, and procurement reports
• Apply value management techniques at project outset
• Manage estimating and cost planning, including presenting the final cost plan
• Oversee procurement processes across all stages
• Control post-contract variances and change management
• Oversee cost checking, valuation work, and monthly cost reporting
• Participate in meetings and client liaison as a key interface
• Perform value engineering and life cycle costing
• Negotiate final accounts
• Support marketing and business development within the sector
• Collaborate with clients and other consultants throughout project stages

Key requirements

• Demonstrable experience delivering service excellence to clients
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong negotiating, influencing, and professional communication abilities
• Solid knowledge of contracts, estimating, valuations, cost reporting, and financial modelling
• Degree qualification preferred but not essential
• Professional memberships are advantageous but not essential
