The Core Engineering – Site Reliability Engineering – Associate – Birmingham

Overview

As a Compliance Engineering SRE at Goldman Sachs, you will own and optimize the health, scalability, and automation of mission-critical production services. You will collaborate with engineering teams to design reliable systems, drive capacity planning, and accelerate delivery with lower toil. You’ll implement and refine SLIs/SLOs, incident management, and self-healing capabilities to sustain performance at scale. Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage production health, capacity, and availability
• Contribute to system design and capacity planning before go-live
• Scale systems to improve reliability and performance
• Lead blameless postmortems and continuous improvement
• Develop monitoring tools and improve system behavior
• Define and maintain SLIs/SLOs for service reliability
• Reduce toil through automation and self-healing capabilities

Key requirements

• Experience with one or more: Java, Python, Perl, Node.js
• Strong communication and analytical/problem-solving skills
• Ownership mindset and ability to automate routine tasks
• Ability to debug and optimize code and automate tasks
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with automated testing and SDLC in Linux environment
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures and software design
