Overview

In this role you will lead cost control for complex programmes within the Energy & Natural Resources division, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. You will shape cost management approaches and robust reporting to enable informed client decisions. This position offers the opportunity to influence multi-project delivery in a dynamic, safety-conscious environment. Responsibilities

  • Lead cost control for multiple projects or a single large project within a programme
  • Tailor cost control approaches and implement systems to track budgets, expenditures, and forecasts
  • Develop and align CBS with WBS and schedule budgets to monitor actual costs
  • Map estimates to WBS and set budgets for work packages and control accounts
  • Adhere to NEC or FIDIC processes for cost data management and reporting
  • Produce accruals to reflect Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP) timely
  • Support change processes with cost information for notes and forecasts
  • Update forecasts (ETC) and ensure coherent cost capture, PO/WOs, and sub-contractor data for cost control
  • Interact with management on cost control updates in a complex project environment
  • Provide leadership and development for the cost control team
  • Lead Cost Control Assurance activities and coordinate with Scheduling, Risk, and Reporting

Key requirements

  • Professional Project Controls experience focusing on Cost Engineering/Control across the project lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with leadership and coaching abilities
  • Ability to influence, motivate, and develop a diverse team
  • BPSS security clearance
  • Member of a professional body (e.g., APM or PMI)
  • Familiar with cost performance reporting and forecasting techniques
  • Experience leading Cost Control Assurance activities
  • Awareness of how Scheduling, Risk, Reporting, Change Control interact with Cost Control
  • Ability to make risk-based decisions and navigate conflicts
