Associate Renewable Energy Design Engineer

Overview

As an Associate Engineer in our renewable energy advisory team, you will lead FEED, IE, OE and TA assignments across full project lifecycles for solar, wind and energy storage. You’ll work in a collaborative, client-facing environment to shape project delivery, risk management, and technical due diligence. The role offers opportunities to mentor colleagues and grow the service offering within a growing UK-wide practice. You will contribute to strategic client relationships and support business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver FEED, IE, OE and TA assignments across concept to construction, financing and acquisition
• Manage project delivery for project finance, tax equity, sales and acquisition mandates
• Review technical and commercial documents including contracts, schedules and CAPEX/OPEX models
• Conduct site visits, construction monitoring and witness testing
• Manage risks, schedules, deliverables and documentation across multiple projects
• Produce high-quality technical advisory reports outlining risks and recommendations
• Support contract administration, variations and claims for clients
• Lead client and stakeholder meetings with developers, lenders, EPCs, investors and internal teams
• Lead Pre-FEED and FEED design teams for wind, solar and BESS projects
• Lead Owners Engineering service delivery
• Provide business development support leveraging your network to support Stantec

Key requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in renewable energy (IE/OE/TA, development, construction, O&M, or M&A)
• Experience supporting projects through financial close with lenders or investors
• Strong understanding of project delivery, contracts, and risk management
• Degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently
