Senior Landfill Gas Engineer

Overview

In this role you help shape sustainable waste management across Ontario by leading landfill gas programs and advancing design standards. You will work with WSP’s strong Waste team to deliver technically complex projects, improve environmental performance, and build lasting client partnerships. You’ll mentor and collaborate across disciplines while influencing design, policy, and industry practice. Responsibilities

• Lead strategic and technical oversight on landfill gas programs
• Develop and advance landfill gas design standards and methodologies
• Serve as trusted technical advisor to clients and cross‑functional teams
• Oversee project delivery for quality, compliance, and financial performance
• Mentor engineers and staff to build capability and succession
• Represent WSP on industry committees and events
• Champion thought leadership through papers and presentations
• Act as seller‑doer to support pursuits and grow the Waste business
• Lead pursuit strategy development and proposal leadership
• Foster collaboration across regions and practices to expand reach

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Master’s or PhD an asset
• P.Eng. in Ontario; additional Canadian registrations a plus
• 15+ years of experience in landfill gas engineering
• Expertise in landfill gas system design, peer review, regulatory compliance, and complex project delivery
• Proven experience building client relationships and delivering business growth as a seller‑doer
• Collaborative, entrepreneurial, and cross‑disciplinary teamwork oriented
• Experience leading project teams and influencing strategy
• Comfort with RFPs, EOIs, SOQs, and major competitive pursuits
• Valid driver’s license and MS Office proficiency
