Senior Cost Consultant – Defence & Security

Overview

In this role you will lead cost management delivery for defence-related projects within Arcadis UK, shaping budgets, forecasts and controls. You will work with cross-functional teams to apply robust cost governance and deliver value across small/medium developments or parts of larger assignments. You’ll coach junior colleagues, manage stakeholder relationships, and present risks to senior leadership to keep projects on track. This is a hands-on opportunity to influence cost performance and drive continuous improvement in a high-stakes, Defence-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop junior team members to raise service standards
• Manage budgets, forecasts and cost variances within financial systems
• Deliver cost-focused projects or components of larger programmes within deadlines and budgets
• Provide risk and compliance guidance to colleagues and maintain adherence to Arcadis processes
• Present project risks/issues to senior managers to mitigate adverse impacts
• Analyze data to identify trends and inform cost and commercial decisions
• Share knowledge and drive service improvement and innovation

Key requirements

• Experience coaching and mentoring junior staff
• Experience managing relationships with external stakeholders and middle-management levels
• Ability to take a project from inception to completion
• Ability to obtain BPSS clearance
• Experience in cost management for construction/defence-related projects
