Senior Cost Controller

Overview

In this role you will lead cost control for a portfolio of nuclear construction projects, driving accurate forecasting, budgeting and performance analysis to improve project outcomes. You will contribute to mature cost control practices, mentor junior staff, and deliver meaningful insights to project leadership. The role blends hands-on cost management with strategic process development in a high-stakes EPC environment. You will work across cross-functional teams to enable safe, cost-efficient delivery of multi-hundred-million-pound projects.

Responsibilities

• Set cost control standards and procedures across projects
• Develop tools and templates for cost control
• Coordinate and manage cost control activities via Cost Controllers and Project Controllers
• Utilise SAP for data extraction and centralized reporting (PFR/CCR, CoNQ)
• Provide interrogation and enhanced analysis of cost data for project, programme and portfolio managers
• Support estimates and costings for tenders and maintain cost data norms
• Produce project cost management reports including invoicing, variations, EVM, cashflow
• Mentor and upskill staff within Project Controls on cost control practices
• Monitor daily/weekly costs (POs, timesheets, expenses, site productivity) across projects

Key requirements

• Dedicated experience in Project Cost Control, Cost Engineering, Project Cost Accounting or Project Controls
• Experience on large Nuclear, Construction, Engineering, EPC, Infrastructure or Industrial projects
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and cost management principles
• Practical experience of Earned Value Management (EVM) and/or cashflow management
• Strong analytical skills to identify trends, risks, opportunities
• Experience presenting cost performance information to Project Managers and senior stakeholders
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience using SAP
