Project Cost Consultant – Defence & Security

Overview

In this Senior Cost Manager role, you will lead cost management delivery for UK defence projects and related developments, ensuring governance and value across budgets and resources. You will work within a cost management team to support project delivery, coaching junior staff and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. The role emphasizes risk and compliance awareness, data analysis, and advisory input to improve cost efficiency and decision-making. Responsibilities

• Coach and develop junior team members to raise service delivery standards
• Manage budgets, forecasts, costs, and variances across multiple small- to mid-size projects or components
• Deliver assigned cost management work within deadlines and resource constraints
• Provide risk, compliance, and behavioural guidance to adhere to Arcadis processes
• Present project risks or issues to senior management to avoid adverse impacts
• Analyze data to identify themes and trends and advise on cost and commercial decisions
• Review existing processes to identify improvements and share knowledge for service innovation

Key requirements

• Experience delivering cost management on projects typically ranging between 5m and 150m
• Coaching and mentoring experience with junior colleagues
• Experience managing stakeholder relationships at middle-management level
• Ability to take a project from inception to completion
• Eligibility to obtain BPSS clearance
• Capable of handling complex projects/programmes
