Partner / Legal Director – Public Sector Litigation – Cardiff

Overview

In this role you will lead the development and growth of a specialist public sector disputes team from Cardiff. You will handle high-profile matters across procurement disputes, governance, and regulatory litigation, working to expand the firm’s public sector market position. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage strategic, business-critical litigation and nurture client relationships. Responsibilities

• Lead the growth of the public sector disputes practice from Cardiff
• Handle a broad range of high-profile disputes (procurement, governance, regulatory, commercial contracts)
• Provide strategic leadership on complex matters across practice areas
• Mentor and supervise legal teams; lead initiatives across multiple groups
• Drive business development and client relationship management with public bodies, suppliers, and regulators
• Contribute to strategy, market positioning, and cross-referral opportunities within a national platform

Key requirements

• Significant experience in public sector litigation and dispute resolution
• Strong expertise in procurement litigation and procurement-related disputes
• Experience advising public bodies, suppliers, contractors or regulated organisations
• Understanding of commercial contracts, governance issues and litigation risk management
• Proven business development and client relationship skills
• Ability to lead complex matters strategically and collaborate across teams
• Experience supervising or leading legal teams
• Knowledge of the Welsh public sector landscape advantageous
• Existing client following welcomed but not essential
