DISPENSER FOR GP PRACTICE

Overview

In this role you support a small, patient‑facing GP practice by accurately dispensing medications and handling queries with care. You work closely with clinicians and the dispensary team to maintain high standards, confidentiality, and timely service. You will contribute to a calm, friendly patient experience while managing stock, records, and compliance. This position offers a hands‑on role in a tight‑knit team with meaningful impact on patient care.

Responsibilities

• Check dispensed medicines against prescriptions and confirm with the authorising Doctor when in doubt
• Collect prescription charges and ensure FP10 declarations are completed
• Forward invoices and dispensary correspondence to the Prescribing & Finance Manager
• Order stock via wholesalers and record details; manage deliveries and returns
• Stock shelves and fridge areas; rotate stock and remove out-of-date items
• Store drugs properly and maintain cold chain where required
• Maintain accurate dispensing records on patient files
• Process repeat prescriptions and ensure medicines are available or reordered
• Collaborate with GPs, nurses, and managers and attend relevant training
• Complete paperwork for controlled drugs and assist with weekly reconciliations
• Take on additional duties as requested by Partners or Practice Manager
• Assist with reception duties as reasonably required by the Practice Manager
