Mobile Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will join a facilities management and engineering team to maintain mechanical systems and plant across multiple sites. You’ll blend hands-on technical work with compliance, safety, and operational leadership to keep assets reliable. You’ll support projects, audits, and risk-based improvements, acting as a subject-matter expert on mechanical compliance. Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and plant
• Support planned and reactive maintenance activities
• Produce and review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements)
• Provide technical guidance to engineers, subcontractors and stakeholders
• Carry out compliance audits and site inspections
• Supervise and assess skilled personnel and enforce safe practices
• Support projects, upgrades and lifecycle replacement programmes
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and sustainability of mechanical assets
• Investigate faults, identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Participate in out-of-hours on-call rota when required

Key requirements

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong experience maintaining commercial or industrial mechanical building services
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, HVAC systems, pipework, pressurised systems and associated plant
• Experience with safe systems of work, permits and compliance procedures
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple sites and projects
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Full UK Driving Licence
